Yes, you would be correct in saying that Clause 13.2 (b) under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020 (HPSS) stipulates that the ordinary hours can be worked between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm on a Saturday for Chiropractic clinics (amongst others).
However, it is important to note that whilst ordinary hours can still be worked on the Saturday, it would still attract the applicable Saturday weekend penalty rate for all time worked as it is still considered unsociable hours. The ordinary hours on the Saturday more so allow employers to roster employees on without it automatically incurring overtime.
Furthermore, we will flag that the wording provided under Clause 26.1 (a) also demonstrates that employees are entitled to the weekend penalty rates, as it states:
26.1 Weekend penalty rates
(a) For all ordinary hours worked between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday a full-time or part-time employee will be paid 150% of the minimum hourly rate applicable to their classification and pay point.
(b) A casual employee who works on a Saturday or Sunday will be paid 175% of the minimum hourly rate applicable to their classification and pay point for all time worked, but will not be paid the casual loading of 25%.
Considering this, where an employee works ordinary hours on the Saturday, they would be entitled to the applicable weekend penalty rates above.
